Albert Kaline, 6’2” tall, began playing for the major league early 18. He was able to play for at least a hundred games in 19 successive seasons; he stopped playing in 1972.
At early 20, Kaline won a batting crown after hitting at .340. Due to that, he emerged to be the youngest baseball athlete among those who have won a batting crown. A consistent 25 homeruns and a bat of .297, these are just few of his notable records playing that young. Kaline, who received 10 Gold Gloves, was an American League Most Valuable Player runner-up for years 1955 and 1963. He was also chosen to be the featured Player of the Year for The Sporting News.
Between 1950s and 1960s, Kaline’s name was put into a pedestal when he got injuries; it was in a negative way. His records became less notable which gave him the reason to really redeem himself and the team in 1968. That year, he led his team, Detroit Tigers, to a world title in the World Series after 23 seasons. Again in 1972, he led the team to winning five successive games. In his last game, he had hits of 22. Kaline had played against the St. Louis Cardinals among others.
Retiring with hits of 3,007, homeruns of 399, and RBIs of 1,583, Kaline is really one of those players worth to be remembered especially by fans.
