About Al Ferrera Memorabilia & Collectibles
Famous for his nickname as “The Bull”, Al Ferrera is a retired Major League Baseball player. The journey of this player to the diamond wasn’t the same as with the other ballplayers. Instead of playing baseball during his early years, he played piano in the Carnegie Hall. However, he did go to high school with would-be baseball personalities like Joe Torre and Joe Pepitone.
He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1959 but he would wait until 1963 in order for him to play. The Dodgers went to the World Series that year but Ferrera would not be able to participate in the game as well as in the 1965 World Series.
Ferrera’s year would be in 1966 when he would record a .270 hitting average, played in 100 games including in that year’s World Series.
He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in 1969 and recorded a .260 hitting average and 14 homeruns for that year. In 1967, he was able to record a .277 hitting average and 13 homeruns.
He played for the Cincinnati Reds in 1971 before retiring.
