Al Cowens (full name: Alfred Edward Cowens; A. C.) played rightfielder from 1974 until 1986 for the Kansas City Royals, California Angels, Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners. He played for the Royals from 1974 - 1979, Angels in 1980, Tigers from 1980 - 1981 and Mariners from 1982 - 1986. Over 13 seasons, he played 1584 games, hit 108 home runs, drove in 704 runs, and stole 120 bases. Born on October 25, 1951 in Los Angeles, CA, Cowens stood 6' 1" and weighed 197 lb. He attended Centennial (Compton, CA) high school and was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 75th round of the 1969 amateur draft. His debut was on April 6, 1974 and he played his final game on June 8, 1986. Over his career, Cowens made $1,600,000. Common misspellings of his name include Alfred A.
