Ahman Green is a running back playing for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League. This powerful and energetic player was born on February 16, 1977 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. He was named after the former NFL wide receiver and current broadcaster Ahmad Rashad.
He was in high school when he garnered Player of the Year at Central High School in Omaha. Green was a three-year winner in football as running back and he also played as a linebacker. He was also a two-time academic all-state selection and earned Academic All-Big 12 honorable mention in 1990. Green became a standout running back and three year starter of the University of Nebraska. He accomplished 1,086 rushing yards, 13 touchdowns, and 141 carries. He has also earned the Big Eight all-conference and “Freshman of the Year” honors. Green has bagged a team-leading 917 yard with 155 carries during his sophomore season in 1996. Green was in his junior year when he got All-Big 12 Conference recognition and was called second-team All-America by the Associated Press and the Sporting News.
In 2000, he was traded with a fifth round draft pick to Green Bay Packers for Fred Vinson and also a sixth round pick. From that time, he has been chosen to the National Football League Pro Bowl every year from 2001 to 2004. From those games, Green got 9,036 yards from scrimmage and 6,848 rushing yards.
