Senate Approves Tax On Sports Memorabilia
ST. PAUL (Associated Press) The Minnesota Senate has approved a tax on sports memorabilia including trading cards, jerseys, equipment and other items as part of a larger tax bill.
The 13 percent tax would fund a stream of annual payments for a new University of Minnesota football stadium. It would be imposed at the wholesale level.
The Senate tax package also would eliminate a tax disadvantage for married tax filers and protect more taxpayers from the alternative minimum tax. It passed 36-to-28 after a short debate.
