Signed memorabilia highlight silent auction at Jones golf tourney

(staff report) - The 13th annual Roy Jones Jr. Golf Classic is scheduled for Friday at The Moors Golf & Lodging near Milton, but the most excitement won't occur on the course.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., autographed sports memorabilia will be up for grabs during a silent auction in the clubhouse.

Items such as a Michael Jordan autographed basketball will be sold to raise money for ARC Gateway, a non-profit organization aimed at helping those with developmental disabilities.

Other autographed items include: a picture of Tiger Woods, jerseys from Yankees star Derek Jeter and Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks, a pair of spikes courtesy of Olympic gold medalist Justin Gatlin and, of course, boxing gloves from Jones.
