Upper Deck Company will cut the ribbon on its first retail outlet this Friday.
The 2100-square foot store is located in the Tella Berra Shopping Center in Huntington Beach, CA.
Upper Deck announced plans to enter the retail market last year and announced the southern California site would be its first location. While some retail shops, especially those nearby, worried about the company cutting into their profits, Upper Deck has pledged to work with those dealers in hopes of keeping both sides profitable.
The company is also using the Orange County store as sort of a merchandising laboratory, introducting new product ideas and promotions to a more localized audience before taking those concepts to a national level.
The store will carry both sports and entertainment products including autographed memorabilia and trading cards.
Lakers' standout Luke Walton will sign autographs for an hour at Friday night's grand opening, with ex-Dodger Steve Garvey set to visit on Saturday.
