Super Bowl Auction Kicks Off

Hunt Auctions is again teaming with NFL Auction and NFL PLAYERS to produce the Super Bowl XLV Live Auction at NFL Experience, located at the Dallas Convention Center.  600 football related items from both past and present stars ranging from Gale Sayers to Peyton Manning.

A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit charities designated by the NFL, NFL PLAYERS and participating NFL teams.

The auction will have more than 600 lots, with items ranging from the earliest period of the game in the late 1800s through 2010.  Among the highlights:

• Dallas Cowboys 1992 Super Bowl XXVII ring ($6,000-8,000)
• Iconic Pittsburgh Steelers “Steel Curtain” as displayed in Three Rivers Stadium during the team’s 1970s title run (est. $10,000-15,000)
• Gale Sayers Chicago Bears professional model jersey c.1960s (Est. $5,000-$10,000)
• Scarce Spalding “Executioner” style football helmet c.1915-20  (Est. $5,000-$10,000)
• 2010 Michael Vick Philadelphia Eagles game-worn jersey  (Est. $3,000-$5,000)
• 2010 Peyton Manning Indianapolis Colts game worn jersey  (Est. $7,500-$10,000)
• Unique Super Bowl XLIV Second Half onside kick game-used football, in NFL history  (Est. $1,000-$3,000)
• Extensive collection of historic Super Bowl and professional football programs c.1880-Present  (Est. $50,000+)

“Both the live and online auctions showcase the very best in vintage materials and modern era items that we feel confident will be of great interest to NFL fans,” said David Hunt, president of Hunt Auctions.

The Super Bowl XLV Live Auction events will kick off with a Preview Exhibition and Free Appraisal Fair at NFL Experience at Dallas Convention Center.

Three hundred live auction items will be on display. Admission to the preview is free with a paid ticket to the NFL Experience. In addition, Hunt Auctions will run a complimentary appraisal fair for fans who want to learn more about their own sports collectibles.

A limited number of items will be accepted on consignment for the auction.

On Saturday, Feb 5, 2011, the live auction opens for public bidding at 3 p.m. CST. Bids can either be made in person at NFL Experience on Saturday, via telephone at 610-524-0822, or online at www.HuntAuctions.com up until Thursday, Feb. 3 at 10 p.m. CST.
