The story of the missing piece of game-worn memorabilia from the 1925 Hamilton Tigers of the NHL has proven worthy of a documentary. While plans unfold, the search continues for the sweater that hasn't really been missing for very long.

It's a bizarre story that involves a defunct franchise, death threats and big-time collectors anxious to find a piece of rare sports memorabilia.

Die-hard hockey historians know Hamilton was headed for the 1925 playoffs, only to see its players go on strike. The move would mark the beginning of a quick end for NHL hockey in Hamilton, an Ontario city that, to this day, mourns what could have been.
