Pittsburgh Steelers Artifacts on Display

Nirvana for Steelers fans as a local history center gathers up some cool items from the club's storied history and puts them on display.

In celebration of the Steelers 75th anniversary, the John Heinz History Center's new exhibition, Pittsburgh Steelers 75th Season Celebration: Treasures from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, brings together an unprecedented collection of Steelers artifacts.

The exhibition compiles the most memorable Steelers items from the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio; the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum; and the Steelers organization.

Fans will see all 19 Steelers' Hall of Fame bronze busts from Nov. 10-18, along with the Steelers' five Lombardi Trophies during the weekend of Nov. 23- 25.

Other highlights throughout the run of the exhibition include:


— The section of Three Rivers Stadium turf from Franco Harris' "Immaculate Reception" along with the shoes Harris wore during the legendary catch;

— Several jerseys from Steelers Hall of Famers such as Mel Blount, Terry Bradshaw and Jack Ham; game-used cleats from Jack Lambert; and a helmet from "Mean" Joe Greene;

— Rocky Bleier's Purple Heart from Vietnam;

— The NFL draft card from Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger;

— A Steelers trading card wall, featuring more than 800 football cards from the 1930s until today;

— Interactive activities for children of all ages, including a mini-NFL combine that will allow visitors to test their vertical leap and clock their time in the shuttle run;

— Game programs, tickets, pennants and commemorative game balls from the Steelers 75 years; and

— Video displays of all five Steelers' Super Bowl victories.
This season also marks the 75th anniversary of Steelers' chairman Dan Rooney, a sports legend and the last of the founding generation of the NFL.

To help kick off the exhibition, Steelers' chairman Dan Rooney will discuss the Steelers legacy and sign copies of his new autobiography titled, Dan Rooney: My 75 Years with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the NFL, as told to the History Center's Andy Masich and David Halaas.
