No 2010 Topps T206 Strasburg

The recently-released 2010 Topps 206 Baseball selling material included what the company is calling “a piece of inaccurate information”.

Although Stephen Strasburg’s card appears in the sales pamphlet, he is not on the checklist.  Since he’s yet to play a Major League game, Strasburg is currently ineligible to appear as a Rookie Card in products.

“If Strasburg is called up to the Washington Nationals before Topps 206 ships, he will be inserted into the product,”  Topps stated in a news release.  “Until that time, collectors can find Strasburg’s prospect cards in 2010 Bowman branded baseball products starting with 2010 Bowman Baseball, which releases next week.”

Strasburg was promoted from AA Harrisburg to AAA Syracuse on Tuesday.  While it’s not known how many starts he’ll make there, it’s clear he’ll be in Washington before long.  His 2010 Bowman prospects card is likely to be among the hottest sellers of the year, even without the ‘rookie card’ designation created by MLB.

Bowman will once again be loaded with a number of top level prospects who will make their first ‘unofficial’ rookie card debut.

Strasburg may also be featured in a minor league set produced by the Syracuse Chiefs.
