Sep 19, 2007 Man pleads guilty to stealing Walter Payton memorabiAssociated Press - September 15, 2007 3:54 AM ET AURORA, Ill. (AP) - A North Aurora man convicted of stealing Walter Payton memorabilia from the star Chicago Bears running back's namesake restaurant won't be welcome there for the next two years. Nineteen-year-old Jeremy Sherman pleaded guilty to theft Friday in Kane County Court for stealing Payton's NFL Hall of Fame ring and a replica of Payton's Super Bowl Twenty ring. The rings were stolen from Walter Payton's Roundhouse Restaurant in Aurora in March of 2006. Sherman was sentenced to two years of probation, fined $100 and credited for 237 days he served in the County Jail. He was ordered to not go to the restaurant while on probation.
