A sports and non-sports memorabilia auction featuring several former standout athletes will be held this weekend at Mohegan Sun Casino. The event will benefit several local charities, including the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Salvation Army, Candy’s Place and the SPCA. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Monday at the casino on Route 315 in Plains Township. There is a $1 admission fee. Former Coughlin football standout Ron Solt will be at the event from 5-7 p.m. to sign autographs. After playing at Coughlin, Solt went on to become an All-American at Maryland. He was a first-round draft pick by the Indianapolis and played for the Colts for five seasons before playing four years for the Philadelphia Eagles. Solt ended his career in 1992 with the Colts. Former Swoyersville High School football standout Lou Michaels and baseball standout Bob Duliba of Glen Lyon will be signing autographs Saturday. Michaels will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while Duliba will be there from 4-6 p.m. Michaels was an All-American player for the University of Kentucky before playing 14 seasons in the NFL with four different teams. Michaels was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1992. Duliba was a Major League Baseball pitcher and played for the Cardinals, Angels, Red Sox and Kansas City Athletics from 1959 to 1967. He later went on to coach at Wilkes University and Wyoming Area. Former Crestwood football standout Martin Bibla will be signing autographs from 1-3 p.m. Sunday. After his days at Crestwood, Bibla played at the University of Miami. He was a fourth-round draft pick in 2002 by Atlanta and played four seasons with the Falcons. Signed photographs of the following athletes/celebrities will also be part of the large number of items for bid: Steve Carlton, Robin Roberts, Nolan Ryan, John Travolta, Arnold Palmer, John Daly, Gary Player and Lee Trevino.
