Florida Company Mints Super Bowl Coin
The Melbourne-based company Highland Mint will make the coin used in the opening coin toss of this year’s Super Bowl.
Highland Mint is creating a total of 10,000 coins. Fifty, including the one designated for the opening toss, will be sent to Arizona before the game to be handed to NFL Hall-of-Famers and other NFL dignitaries. The remaining coins will go on sale to the general public.
After the opening toss, the coin will be displayed at the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
In addition to minting the coin for the Super Bowl, the Highland Mint is also licensed to Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League.
