The jersey worn by Sidney Crosby in Team Canada’s 8-2 win over Germany in this year’s Olympics drew a winning bid of $38,257 before the eBay hammer fell this week. Crosby was the eventual hero for Canada, scoring the game-winner in overtime of the gold medal game against the United States. 65 bids were placed for the jersey sold by the NHLPA. All proceeds will go to “Hockey for Haiti”, a joint initiative between Georges Laraque, the NHLPA and World Vision. In total, 140 Olympic hockey jerseys, worn by NHL players from 12 different countries, during the 2010 Olympics are up for auction. 23 Team Canada jerseys were sold to kick start the auction with a Jonathan Toews model fetching the second highest price at $7837, while a Drew Doughty sweater reached $4176 and a Shea Weber $2990. This week, the auction features Team USA with a Patrick Bidding for each jersey starts at 99 cents.
