Jul 12, 2006 More than 106,000 people turn out for 2006 MLB All-Star FanFestThe 2006 MLB All-Star FanFest drew more than 106,000 people during its five-day run at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. The total puts the city's second All-Star FanFest among the top five in the event's 16-year history, and marks a 63% increase from 1994 when it was held in the convention center prior to its renovation and expansion. The event, which ran from July 7 - 11, also drew its largest crowds since 1999. This year, All-Star FanFest featured appearances from current players like Alex Rodriguez, Jason Bay, and Brandon Webb, and opportunities for fans to meet legends including Cal Ripken, Al Oliver, and Negro League great Buck O'Neal. Throughout the event, fans of all ages enjoyed more than 40 interactive activities and historical exhibits such as life-size video batting and pitching cages, memorabilia from National Baseball Hall of Fame, and baseball trivia challenges. Other cities that make up the top five in All-Star FanFest attendance include Baltimore (1993), Philadelphia (1996), Boston (1999), and Seattle (2001).
