"Still" The Perfect Season Football
The Patriots may have lost the big game, but one lucky collector will still get their hands on a signed Super Bowl XLII perfect season football.
Mercury Morris, running back with th3 1972 Miami Dolphins, signed a Super Bowl XLII football one minute after the Giants won the game last Sunday. The ball, which Morris signed and dated by hand, also includes the inscription “I told you so!”
The ball is being auctioned through gridirongreats.com, a charitable organization that raises money for retired NFL players. Bidding starts at $500.00 and the auction ends on February 12, 2008.
Morris was extremely outspoken about the Patriots during the 2007 season. Because of New England’s loss, Morris’ 1972 Dolphins remain the only team in NFL history to end a perfect regular season with a Super Bowl win.
