If you had to sum up Shaquille O'Neal's illustrious career in the NBA in one word, it would be “dominant.” No player in the history of the game ever had a bigger impact on his sport than the 7 ft. 1 in., 325 lb. center. Drafted first overall in 1992 by the Orlando Magic, Shaq's rookie season brought the house down, literally. On two occurrences his freshman season, O'Neal's dunks collapsed entire backboards. Shaq would go on to win the NBA's Rookie of the Year award in1993 and by his third season in the league, he was the game's leading scorer. He won a gold medal with Team USA Basketball during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.  Later that summer, he left the Orlando Magic to join the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2000, the Lakers, with a teaming of O'Neal, young superstar Kobe Bryant and Hall of Fame Head Coach Phil Jackson, went on to win the first of three consecutive NBA Championships. All three Championships came accompanied by Finals Most Valuable Player Awards for O'Neal. Following the 2004 season, O'Neal requested a trade from the Lakers after tensions rose between himself and management. He was traded to the Miami Heat in July. Upon his arrival in Miami, Shaq promised the hometown fans their first NBA Championship. He and rising superstar Dwyane Wade made good on that promise in the 2006 as the Heat defeated the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.

After four NBA Championships and an NBA Most Valuable Player award in 2000, O'Neal has stamped his name along with his size 23 sneakers into basketball history.
