Mitchell & NessBy Dee Dee Smith
Mitchell & Ness manufacture and sell sports collectibles such as caps, jackets, vintage (throw-back) jerseys/uniforms and other sports apparel. Headquartered in Philadelphia, Mitchell & Ness has been a part of the sports industry since the early 1990s. In addition to on-line sales, Mitchell & Ness sells its wares at their sporting good store in downtown Philadelphia, and through various other business affiliations. The company holds licensing agreements with all of the Major Sports Leagues and the licensing entity for the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Mitchellandness.com Visitors to the site can shop by sports league or selected apparel, i.e. jersey or hat. The site also allows one to shop via a search feature and highlights new releases, sale items and items that are "coming soon.”
To view the entire site, visitors need to have or download Adobe Flash Player. This can be a negative for those with older computers. The Mitchell & Ness website has somewhat of a vintage or nostalgic feel to it. The home page features pictures of their throwback jerseys and uniforms, among other photos. One unique feature on the Mitchell & Ness site is the history timeline. Somewhat in the form of a slideshow, the timeline provides highlights and a brief overview of the company’s history.
Customer Service/Authenticity The customer service policy for Mitchell & Ness was very difficult to find. To find this information, one needs to click on the link for Terms of Use (very odd). This page provides a link to the Help section which further leads to their return policy. Nonetheless, customers are allowed to return merchandise for a full refund within 30 days of purchase (except for sales items).
Mitchell & Ness guarantees the authenticity of any product purchased from their site, store or any of their authorized retailers. Consumers are encouraged to check Mitchell & Ness’s list of authorized retailers before purchasing any of their products from an outside vendor. |
