April is finally here and, for millions of sports fans around the country, that means Opening Day and the start of another MLB season. The Boston Red Sox, for the first time in recent memory, are actually the favorites to win the World Series and make it three championships in five years!  That’s a lot of pressure. Will Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz be able to deliver and hang another World Series banner above Yawkey Way?  The New York Yankees are definitely trying to stop that from happening.  Players like Mariano Rivera, team captain Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez are hoping that they can bring one more title to “The House that Ruth Built” before moving to their new stadium in 2009.  Look for pitcher Chien Ming Wang to do his part to bring the Yankees their 27th World Series win.   Los Angeles Dodgers fans are obviously excited to see what new general manager Joe Torre brings to the franchise this year.  New York Mets fans have plenty of reason to be optimistic this season.  The off-season addition of Johan Santana gives them arguably the most dangerous pitching rotation in the National League and, combined with other all-stars like David Wright, makes them serious playoff contenders.

The start of the season may have you thinking about what your teams outlook is for 2008, but don’t forget about great MLB players from years gone by.  Yankee fans can commemorate the final year of the team’s current stadium by adding a little history to their collection.  Why not pick up a Yogi Berra signed photograph or Mickey Mantle autographed baseball?  If you’re an old Atlanta Braves or Milwaukee Brewers fan, you should think about an autographed Hank Aaron baseball or signed jersey.  Mets fans, check out our selection of autographed Nolan Ryan photographs and baseball bats. Chicago Cubs fans may want to see our Ernie Banks memorabilia.

April means the end of the NBA regular season and the beginning of the playoffs.  The Boston Celtics  have held on to their lead in the East, and the Los Angeles Lakers are chasing down the New Orleans Hornets for control of the West.  More than a few people are hoping that Boston and L.A. go all the way this year and revive one of the biggest sports rivalries in history, when Larry Bird’s Celtics battled Magic Johnson and the Lakers for NBA titles in the 1980s.  LeBron James has had a record-breaking year, and the 23-year-old small forward is already being mentioned in the same breath as Michael Jordan!  It’s always a good time to build your NBA memorabilia collection.  Why not pick up a Dwyane Wade or Steve Nash autographed basketball?  Check out our selection of signed photographs and jerseys autographed by players like Walt Frazier and Julius Erving if your collection focuses on retired players.

The NCAA tournament field has been narrowed down to the Final Four, and all four first-seed teams are in.  North Carolina and Memphis are still in the hunt, but there’s plenty of pressure on UCLA to bring back a championship on their third straight appearance in the Final Four.  Bubble teams like Ohio State and last year’s champion, the University of Florida, didn’t make it to the big show this year, but don’t expect either team to fade into the background for next year.  Teams like Notre Dame and Michigan State were contenders in this year’s tournament, so look for them to make a big show next year, too.

April means the end of the NHL regular season.  We’ve got NHL memorabilia signed by some of the biggest names in the game, past and present.  Boston Bruins fans, check out our selection of autographed Bobby Orr jerseys and hockey sticks.  New York Rangers fans should have a look at our autographed Mark Messier memorabilia.  We’ve got memorabilia and merchandise from every team in the league.

It may be the off season for the NFL, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to talk about, especially with the Draft coming up at the end of the month.  Despite rumors that he’s rethinking retirement, Brett Favre  really did end his 17-year career in March.  Now is  the ideal time to get a Green Bay Packers helmet or jersey signed by the all-time great.  The reigning champion New York Giants are looking to use the free agency and upcoming draft to add even more talent to their roster, which already includes superstars like wide receiver Plaxico Burress and Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning.  The New England Patriots may not pull off another perfect regular season, but Tom Brady and company will certainly be in the hunt for Super Bowl XLIII.

If you’re not a fan of one of the big four sports or the NCAA, chances are still good that we’ve got what you’re looking for.  Boxing fans, check out our selection of signed Joe Frazier photos and boxing gloves.  If you’re looking for soccer memorabilia, look at our collection of autographed Mia Hamm photographs, soccer balls and jerseys.  Tennis fans can check out our selection of autographed Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal memorabilia.  And golfers, you have to check out our great selection of Tiger Woods memorabilia!
