Congratulations to the Super Bowl 50 Champions, the Denver Broncos! Defeating the Carolina Panthers in a 24-10 showdown, Peyton Manning led his team to a victory, marking the franchise’s third Super Bowl win. In a game marked with fumbles, turnovers and surprising plays, Manning’s offense shined but it was ultimately the Denver defense that secured the victory. With Von Miller, the Super Bowl 50 MVP, recording an impressive 6.5 sacks in the night, including the game-changing last minute sack to Cam Newton that led to a fumble and turnover, the Broncos stole the show and the Panthers’ hope at a second franchise win. Other key players like C.J. Anderson and Emmanuel Sanders made their mark on the game, earning top notch accolades for their contributions. Though they did not have the chance to battle for a Lombardy Trophy of their own, the remaining NFL teams all had notable seasons of their own. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots lost their shot at a back-to-back Super Bowl appearance in their loss in the AFC Championship while the Arizona Cardinals also saw their Super Bowl dreams end in the NFC Championship Game. Following a last-minute, game-tying touchdown in the Divisional Round, Aaron Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers into overtime against the Arizona Cardinals, only to face defeat following an incredible touchdown by Larry Fitzgerald. Also falling, Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers had a phenomenal 10-6 season that ended too soon for Steelers fans’ liking. Andrew Luck, the Indianapolis Colts’ failed to advance to any playoff appearance, a first of its kind in many years. New York teams also struggled this season to stay relevant, with both the New York Jets and New York Giants ending their season in the first week of January, much like that of Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints who missed a wild-card berth by two positions in the NFC South. While the Dallas Cowboys topped the NFC East last season they fell on hard times this year with a measly 4-12 season-ending record, unlike division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, who missed a playoff berth by two losses this year. In the market for a new coach and an improved roster, like numerous other teams in the League, the Chicago Bears were once again out of playoff contention; with a new head coach in the next season, perhaps the Bears can improve on their recent 6-10 record.

In a historic twelve-inning game 5, the Kansas City Royals have clinched the Fall Classic to become your 2015 World Series Champions! Facing the New York Mets, the Royals were able to claim victory after a 4-1 series that ended with a late upset that would eventually end the Royals’ three-decade World Series drought. The Royals went into the final game of the series with a 3-1 lead and game five seemed to be over as the Mets kept a 2-0 lead until the top of the ninth inning. With a daring dash home Eric Hosmer tied the game at 2-2, allowing the Royals to remain competitive.  In the twelfth inning, World Series MVP Salvador Perez singled to right, earning the first on base of the inning. With Jarrod Dyson pinch-running, the Royals ran their way to victory after base hits by Bartolo Colon, Alcides Escobar, Ben Zobrist and Lorenzo Cain, advancing four men home and ending the game with a 7-2 victory. Despite valiant efforts from Travis d’Arnaud  and Yoenis Cespedes combined phenomenal pitching by Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom and the rest of the Mets pitching lineup, the Royals, with top sluggers like Alex Gordon, were far too dominant to be beat in this postseason race.

This year's season would have been nothing without the rise and fall of teams, like the 2014 World Series Champions, the San Francisco Giants. Despite the return of star pitcher and World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner, the Giants fell this year in an unexpected way, but they were not the only team. Despite winning the 2013 World Series Champs, the Boston Red Sox have since remained at to the bottom of the AL East even with proven champions, like Dustin Pedroia, and World Series MVP, David Ortiz. Since the retirement of Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter, the New York Yankees struggled to rebuild with young additions, like Brian McCann, and fell in the AL Wild Card Game. With All-Star players like Mike Trout and Albert Pujols, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim were not able to conquer their division and were not present in the postseason play of 2015. The Texas Rangers held high hopes with their playoff dreams with Prince Fielder at the helm leading them to the ALDS, but falling just short of an advancement.

Although only a quarter of the way into the 2015 NBA season, this year’s action has so far matched the excitement we saw in last year’s action packed season. The 2015 NBA Champions, Golden State Warriors, broke NBA records already, starting off the season with a 24 game winning-streak, extending their total winnings to 28-0 between two seasons, a new NBA record. Their accomplishments thus far have yet to overshadow last year’s exciting postseason turnout against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. This year the rest of the NBA looks better than ever, including the rising San Antonio Spurs and the victory-seeking Miami Heat. With All-Star Derrick Rose on injury-free on the court, the Chicago Bulls are on their way to a shot at the Conference Final in 2016. Featuring many fresh faces and All-Star quality rookies, including Bradley Beal and John Wall, the Washington Wizards are shooting their way to one of their best seasons in years. Leading the OKC Thunder on a much improved streak this season, veteran NBA star Kevin Durant is aiming high for another run at the Western Conference title. Perhaps the most shocking news in the NBA is the retirement announcement the legendary Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant made to fans, prepping the world for his retirement come the end of this current season.

The 2015-2016 NHL season is well underway and there have been many surprises thus far into the season. For the first time in franchise history, the Florida Panthers have won game after game, breaking their previously recorded win streak of past seasons. They now rein the Atlantic Division, sitting ahead of longtime rivals, the Detroit Red Wings and 2015 Stanley Cup runner-ups, the Tampa Bay Lightning. Lagging behind for the first time in years, the Boston Bruins are fighting to stay in the top five in their League, despite a loss in the Annual Winter Classic to the Montreal Canadiens. The Metropolitan Division has been home to fierce face-offs so far this season as Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals have had a neck-and-neck competition with the New York Rangers for first place while the usual frontrunners, the Pittsburgh Penguins have struggled to maintain a winning record so far. The reigning 2015 Stanley Cup Champions, the Chicago Blackhawks are in top contention for a Western Conference top-place finish come Playoff time, as are the Pacific Division-ruling Los Angeles Kings.
