Congratulations to the Super Bowl 50 Champions, the Denver Broncos! Defeating the Carolina Panthers in a 24-10 showdown, Peyton Manning led his team to a victory, marking the franchise’s third Super Bowl win. In a game marked with fumbles, turnovers and surprising plays, Manning’s offense shined but it was ultimately the Denver defense that secured the victory. With Von Miller, the Super Bowl 50 MVP, recording an impressive 6.5 sacks in the night, including the game-changing last minute sack to Cam Newton that led to a fumble and turnover, the Broncos stole the show and the Panthers’ hope at a second franchise win. Other key players like C.J. Anderson and Emmanuel Sanders made their mark on the game, earning top notch accolades for their contributions. Though they did not have the chance to battle for a Lombardy Trophy of their own, the remaining NFL teams all had notable seasons of their own. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots lost their shot at a back-to-back Super Bowl appearance in their loss in the AFC Championship while the Arizona Cardinals also saw their Super Bowl dreams end in the NFC Championship Game. Following a last-minute, game-tying touchdown in the Divisional Round, Aaron Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers into overtime against the Arizona Cardinals, only to face defeat following an incredible touchdown by Larry Fitzgerald. Also falling, Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers had a phenomenal 10-6 season that ended too soon for Steelers fans’ liking. Andrew Luck, the Indianapolis Colts’ failed to advance to any playoff appearance, a first of its kind in many years. New York teams also struggled this season to stay relevant, with both the New York Jets and New York Giants ending their season in the first week of January, much like that of Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints who missed a wild-card berth by two positions in the NFC South. While the Dallas Cowboys topped the NFC East last season they fell on hard times this year with a measly 4-12 season-ending record, unlike division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, who missed a playoff berth by two losses this year. In the market for a new coach and an improved roster, like numerous other teams in the League, the Chicago Bears were once again out of playoff contention; with a new head coach in the next season, perhaps the Bears can improve on their recent 6-10 record.

Already a favorite to play well into October, The Chicago Cubs are the team to beat with Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber and Anthony Rizzo on their roster. This early on in the season, though, it really is anyone’s game as All-Stars from around the League look to improve on last season's records while making records of their own. Can Mike Trout dominate the LA Angels roster again? Will the New York Yankees finally rebuild after the retirement of their legendary greats like Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera? Just four teams remain in contention for the 2016 NBA Championship title. While the regular season was filled with plenty of excitement from teams like the Chicago Bulls, and their All-Star Derrick Rose and Los Angeles Lakers, who had their last season with living legend Kobe Bryant, the 2016 NBA Playoffs brought the most excitement this season. The Miami Heat were top contenders as they continued to pull out last minute wins and game seven saves, but eventually fell in the second round, as did the San Antonio Spurs. Battling for the Western Conference Championship title, the Golden State Warriors are fighting to survive as back-to-back NBA MVP Stephen Curry battles through injury after injury, all while looking to defeat Kevin Durant and the OKC Thunder. Can the Warriors push through adversity to become consecutive NBA Finals Champions? Or will the Thunder rise to the occasion after years of early finishes in the playoffs? The Eastern Conference Finals are just as exciting as the West. Going undefeated for ten games in the postseason, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers fell in game three of Conference finals to the Toronto Raptors in the most unexpected of ways. Only the best will be crowned the 2016 NBA Champions! Stayed tuned as Finals play begins June 1st.

The stage is set for the 2016 NHL Champions as the San Jose Sharks and Pittsburgh Penguins are gearing up for the Stanley Cup Finals, beginning June 1st! It was an exciting postseason for all teams involved as the Florida Panthers had their most successful year yet, but faced elimination in the first round as did the Detroit Red Wings, the New York Rangers and the President’s Trophy winners, the Washington Capitals. Prevailing to the Eastern Conference Finals, though, were the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Though the Lightning looked to redeem themselves after last year’s second place finish, they fell to the Penguins in the Eastern Conference Finals in game seven.  In the West, the 2015 Stanley Cup Champions, the Chicago Blackhawks, fell in the first round of postseason play, much like their West Coast competition, the LA Kings. For the first time in franchise history, the San Jose Sharks clinched the Western Conference title and are advancing to the Stanley Cup Finals. Taking down the St. Louis Blues in a close-call seven game series, the Sharks will face the Pittsburgh Penguins for perhaps the most exciting series yet.
